I agree. Just get him to play smarter he can help. Has shown he can score instead we play Berube's plugs.

Except, this does feel different - and not in a good way. Outside of the two COVID years, I never felt that the team didn't put an effort in. They weren't good enough, but at least they showed up. This group feels like they starting to quit halfway through game 3, and have fully left the series already.

Haven’t posted here in awhile but my concerns about this team all season was their 5v5 play and their inability to consistently control play, something that by and large was not an issue in previous seasons. I was concerned that once they got into the playoffs, vs better opponents, that they were susceptible to any variance in their SH% or SV%. Lo and behold they are last among the 2nd round teams in shot attempt share, scoring chance share, expected goals. They are getting pummelled at 5v5.

I never fully bought in the “better defensive structure” line that was being sold all season, and many of their underlying numbers are worse than previous seasons, they just got a weaker top of the Atlantic than in, say, 2022 or 2023.

They nerfed their offensive play in return for terrible defensive play anyway in the series.
