2026-27 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion | Official: Sundin & Chayka to lead front office

Perhaps trying to come to a different arrangement than the $4m.

Either that or see if someone will give them a pick to take their chances
That too is unlikely: His chances in arbitration don't look so hot as he can't be paid less than he made this year (unless he agrees to it).
I wouldn't mess with it much. Cut their losses.
They can use his money to overpay a UFA

His high(ish) qualifying offer made this a tough choice but I would have liked to see Maccelli back under a different coach next season. He played at a 45-point pace last season, and a 50-point pace once he escaped from Berube's bizarre month long benching. His 5-on-5 points per 60 minutes rate was 2nd on the team to only Nylander. He was also 3rd among all Leafs forwards in CF% and led all Leafs forwards in xGF%. I think he had a better season than most gave him credit for.

Stretcher supposedly coming back? Not sure I get this one. His play really tailed off as the season went on

Maybe, but I mainly remember flashes of intelligent playmaking followed by inept and outrageous passing decisions over and over.

Paul Cotter did not get qualified by the Devils, so I'd be taking a flyer on him for a bottom six checking role, maybe even as a space maker on a Tavares-led 3rd line with one of our zippy LW playmakers. Younger, bigger Kasperi Kapanen/Steve Lorentz, with some C experience.
