Good thing I didn't watch. As long as fans are mad, the organization won't care, because it means the fans still care. Once the fans stop caring, that's when they may have to change something. If the fans are happy, that's fine, if they are angry, that's fine as well, because it means they are invested. Invested fans spend money on their product.

I mean, we absolutely have to look at his health as a factor in it, but Berube's insistence in treating Matthews like he is Scott Laughton in the defensive zone (meanwhile never once flipping using Laughton in a role that justified giving up essentially two first round picks for him).
How is the organization so flipping inept.
It's an overeaction.
For years, the team has been labelled as the core 4 and everyone else. So what they have tried to do is build a team where all four lines are pulling the same weight. This means that everyone has to play defense, and conversely everyone has to score goals.
They just don't have the team to do this, and what happens is that they just fall back into the old pattern of playing Matthews and Nylander because they want to win the game, and those two are the only two that give them a chance. Last night there was only 7 minutes difference between Matthews and Robertson. Now some nights there is a little more disparity, but those are usually nights when they are afraid to play Quillan for some reason.
It's like when when Treliving came in and said "I'm going to get rid of that term the core 4", and he did, but the "core 4" was the only reason this team was winning in the regular season. It's like they had an idea of what they wanted to do, but no plan to actually do it.
