Atkinson is 28 and for the past handful of years has been good for 40+ pts (more like 50-60 now), and 30 goals.

Maybe as good a JvR comparable as there is out there.

Oshie being 2.5 years older makes that one a bit more questionable.

So if the Leafs actually want JvR for long term, it'll be in the 7/6M range. I don't see that happening with this Front Office. So does JvR want Cup chance or stability? He's already been underpaid for so long...

I think it's a little optimistic to draw a straight line between the two deals. JVR has basically been doing it for twice as long, with generally better possession numbers and as a much bigger player(which isn't terribly significant outside of what GMs value). On top of that he's been outperforming his deal for years now.

It wouldn't shock me to see him sign something team friendly but I also wouldn't be shocked if he wants to sign for a million or so more than Atkinson did. I definitely don't think it'd be wildly out of line with what he could get on the market.
