No Bryan McCabe, as Chayka promotes from within the dev team (unless they’re splitting pro level dev with prospect dev…; there is already AHL/ECHL dev)
Good summary in here of the work he has been doing with Tavares
I grew up watching him and was always in awe of him. Definitely too bad but when you're lugging around guys like Jonas Hoglund...Too bad Mats never got a cup. When you hear people talk about him, it sounds like he did all the right things to bring a team together. Probably why it felt like those Leaf teams were always punching above their weight class.
Yeah, damn fax machine...I grew up watching him and was always in awe of him. Definitely too bad but when you're lugging around guys like Jonas Hoglund...
> Max Domi has called him “probably the best development coach in the league,” crediting the combination of on-ice micro-reps and video breakdowns that improved his transitional playmaking and neutral-zone decision-making
Oh, so that's why Domi is so good at neutral-zone decision-making /s
Constantly attempting passes that have a zero percent chance of completion is on Domi.Haha, note how I said he did a lot to help Tavares, and neglected to mention the above.
That said, Tavares was deployed to mitigate his weakness and bolster his opportunities for success.
Domi was initially thrust into a situation well over his head (hard match L1), and then relegated to a misfit line while playing through a back injury. He's not the level of player that you'd want the coaching staff to have to orient the whole team structure around, but his deployment did him no favours, while he still gave what he had to the team.
I remember when he left for Vancouver, and this Ottawa fan said to me "I think you are about to realize just how good of a player Mats Sundin is, now that he has left. This is going to be a bigger hole than when Gilmour left". And he was not wrong.I grew up watching him and was always in awe of him. Definitely too bad but when you're lugging around guys like Jonas Hoglund...
I can always trust an Ottawa fan to know about good players leaving.I remember when he left for Vancouver, and this Ottawa fan said to me "I think you are about to realize just how good of a player Mats Sundin is, now that he has left. That was excellence.I can always trust an Ottawa fan to know about good players leaving.

Most likely, TLK will be returning to Rogle for the season. But there is definitely some kind of 3LW/C role that is in a sketchy state right now and it wouldn't be crazy to have him understudy for Nick Paul as a two-way centre. The June 15 element of this signing is an important date in the NHL-SHL transfer agreement, in that it allows players under NHL contract that were drafted out of the Sweden to opt out of SHL contracts (for players drafted 2nd round and later). I don’t know if this means TLK intends to exercise that right and I’m certainly no expert in contract compliance between the leagues.
This is from Swedish reporting
Sounds like he intends to give the dev and training camp a real go
Edit: Leksands will be compensated if TLK jumps

JT in court today. Is JT the only NHLer to try and pull this off? To me, since the totality of the contract is used in a SALARY cap calculation, how can you argue the bonus is not part of the salary? It's essentially a prepayment of salary. Getting prepaid is still advantageous due to the time value of the funds.
For the first time this summer the Jays are fun right now, try some! Can we have hockey back yet? I'm really jonesing to see what the team (and Gavin) looks like this year.
I'm following, but not getting my hopes up.For the first time this summer the Jays are fun right now, try some!
