2026-27 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion | Official: Sundin & Chayka to lead front office

Former Sabres Director of Pro Scouting for the last 5ish years, and pro scout for them previously. Assisted Ryan Hardy in the USNTDP when Hardy was the Director of Player Personnel for the squad in 2015-16, that featured Joseph Woll and Marlies (deep cut) legends Keifer Bellows, Graham Slaggert, Tommy Miller, Matt Hellickson, and Chad Krys.

I liked how Buffalo targeted Josh Doan and Michael Kesselring for JJ Peterka, and Ryan McLeod for Matthew Savoie, not sure how I feel about Josh Norris for Dylan Cozens. Getting Bowen Byram for Middlingstats and then pawning him off for a tremendous haul to the Blackhawks was aces.

The Leafs professional scouting has been, not good for awhile now. Hopefully these personnel changes will yield better results.

2026-2027 schedule is out. 84 games to better balance the schedule. Given that the Atlantic division will be a bloodbath:

Back-to-Backs: Boston (14), Ottawa (14), Buffalo (14), Florida (14), Tampa (13), Detroit (12), Toronto (11), Montreal (10)
Facing a team on a back to back: Montreal (19), Detroit (16), Tampa (13), Buffalo (10), Florida (9), Boston (8), Ottawa (8), Toronto (5)
Playing a Rested Team while Tired: Boston (13), Buffalo (12), Ottawa (11), Florida (10), Tampa (8), Toronto (8), Detroit (7), Montreal (5)
Playing a Tired Team while Rested: Montreal (14), Detroit (11), Tampa (8), Buffalo (8), Boston (7), Florida (5), Ottawa (5), Toronto (2)

September: 2 home games; 1 back to back
October: 6 home games; 8 away games; 1 back to back
November: 9 home games; 4 away games; 2 back to backs
December: 5 home games; 8 away games; 3 back to backs
January: 6 home games; 7 away games; 1 back to back
February: 4 home games; 5 away games
March: 8 home games; 8 away games; 3 back to backs

So the habs have a pretty favourable schedule.

The way this is presented: it's actually shocking how favourable it is for MTL. 1st in advantage for all 4 categories presented above for MTL.
