Kraken GM Francis to become Chair of Selection Committee next June

Lanny McDonald, Chair of the Board of the Hockey Hall of Fame, announced today new appointments to the Hockey Hall of Fame Selection Committee as confirmed at the Directors’ meeting held yesterday in Toronto.

Jarome Iginla and Ed Olczyk will join the Selection Committee commencing with the 2025 nomination and election proceedings (replacing David Branch and Mike Gartner, each having served their full-term limit of 15 years). McDonald also announced that Ron Francis will become Chair of the Selection Committee, taking over from Gartner who will transition to Chair of the Board in June 2025.

So I can only assume one of Branch or Gartner was the hold up for Mogilny's induction lol

Man I'm kind of shocked he made it in over Carey Price, especially after all these years of snubs to what I'd consider lesser selections. Good for him though. Long overdue.

Price is still under contract for next season and maybe that's the reason he didn't go in this year.

Yeah don’t you have to be 5 years post retirement to be eligible? Or is that a baseball thing?

NHL I thought three years before eligibility.

Price is still under contract for next season and maybe that's the reason he didn't go in this year.

He was declared eligible, HHOF doesn't care about the contract stuff.

HHOF only cares about when your career ended, not when your contract did
