Fact.I don't understand how captain data Chayka could even remotely entertain the notion of keeping Berube around.
All I keep hearing is how charming he is and how everyone just loves him. Really?

It might be time to finally let Mike Penny go.You know, while they're at it, anyone else think the scouting and development departments needs some attention?
They haven't acquired and developed a quality NHL defenseman in years...and if they could have properly assessed Fraser Minten, does Tre make that lousy Carlo trade?
Looking at the scouts I also just noticed that Thommie Bergman is no longer listed on the Leafs management page. Using the archived pages he was removed sometime last offseason. He is currently 78-years old so I'm sure if he's no longer a scout it's simply from a much deserved retirement, but I'm very surprised that there wouldn't have been an announcement regarding that.
“Thommie Bergman is the reason William Nylander is a Toronto Maple Leaf,” then-Leafs VP of hockey operations Dave Poulin said.
Bergman quite literally pounded the table for Nylander. Those seated at that table remember Bergman steadfastly saying the game was changing, that game-breaking skill was becoming more important and opportunities like this don’t come around often.
