The biggest reason I am advocating for a full rebuild is that I think Matthews is done being the player he once was. How long has it been? He's only getting older. Maybe another reason Marner left, he knew Matthews wasn't going to return to form.

I've wondered the same thing.
Another thing I've started to wonder about: Marner was apparently popular in the room. Some of his mates might be ticked off at how that all went down. Or the DNA crack taken as a snipe at their character. I'm not in the room so I have no idea.

Current...Dubas was gone before Savard was hired.

If the players liked Savard they might take it to heart they are the reason he lost his job. Might wake them up a bit.

Small sample size but it was running around 10 percent 15 games into the season last year until they moved to the 5 forward PP and jettisoned Rielly to the moon. Granted we don't have a Marner to man the point but Treliving doing nothing to get any offense from the blue line screams from the rafters

Rielly can't appear on the PP anymore
