Game Notes
SJ
-Alex Nedeljkovic will likely start for the Sharks
-The big news in San Jose this season has of course been the breakout performance of Macklin Celebrini. The 19-year old is 3rd in the league in scoring with 43 points in 31 games and has put himself on the radar for Canada's Olympic team
TOR
-Dennis Hildeby will likely start for the Leafs
-The Leafs had to shake up their lines with the suspension to McMann and injury to Mermis. The struggling Willy Nylander will drop to the 3rd line in the hopes that playing with Roy and Joshua will get him "more involved and engaged more in the game" as Berube put it
-Rielly missed practice on Wednesday due to an illness, but according to Berube it's expected he'll still be able to play. Regardless it's also expected that Henry Thrun will make his Leafs debut against his former team

The Sharks have been outscored 11-3 at 5-on-5 with Reaves on the ice. Among all players with 20+ games played this season that's the worst GF% in the league besides Garnet Hathaway's 10% (1-9). He has 2 goals and 0 assists in 25 games. 518 players have played 20+ games this season, the number with 0 assists is 6.

I know Reaves is a cocky guy and that's obviously served him well for the majority of his long NHL career, but at some point you gotta show some humility.

Why would he hold any grudges to the team that gave him a luxury retirement contract?

Yesterday, a key purpose of the medical evaluation - according to Berube - was to determine if surgery was the best and safest path. Contradicting himself isn't helping the criticism of how the team is handling injury reports with the media (and fans)

EDIT: I'm in error.
The Hockey News was reporting what Kypreos had reported

I just heard on the radio that Nylander on the "third" line is a big deal. Calling it a demotion and sending a message. I think that's a bad take. The "third" line is currently our scoring line and will likely continue to yield results, swapping McMann for Nylander. Sometimes I wonder how some of these sports analysts come up with this crap?

If Tanev is done for the season, I am on team "punt-the-season". Crash and burn and hopefully put a little bit in the cupboard.

Same guy who said he didn't believe that the Stolarz injury was serious is now saying "I don't believe that's (surgery) gonna be an option right now" for Tanev, so there's that.

Wheel of destiny for sure!
