Since then though they've lost 5 straight, including an embarrassing 2-1 loss to Ottawa on Monday where they only recorded 10 shots on goal. It was initially just 9 shots, but someone must have found something to get them to double digits

That's on management/coaches. Players will always try to win. There are guys still fighting for jobs, if not here, then elsewhere. They should have shutdown Knies and anyone else that's injured. They had a great chance when Matthews got hurt. I don't mind them beating Boston though. Those 2 pts could come back to make them miss.

The way I see it, you’d probably have expected 2 points out of these 2 games. But you’d expect it to have been lose to Boston and beat NY. But it would be very Leaf to beat the good team then flame out against the poor team.

And actually in this case that could be beneficial as it dented the Bruins hopes of the playoffs, but might help NY in a 4 point swing closer to the leafs game.

New York, NY (AP) — Tonight's hockey game between the New York Rangers and Toronto Maple Leafs was abruptly canceled late this afternoon after a New York State Superior Court judge, in response to a request for an emergency injunction, ruled that the match "does not constitute a valid National Hockey League contest within the widely accepted meaning of that term." In granting the injunction request from a group of Rangers fans who had paid for tickets and planned to attend the game, Judge Peter M. Sarotsky declared "this so-called NHL hockey match is an obvious fraud," citing both teams' record of play this season. "The caliber of hockey likely to be displayed more closely comports with that at an amateur, 'beer league' level, as it is known," Sarotsky continued. "Thus, this court must act expeditiously to keep attendees from being defrauded, and plaintiffs' request for emergency relief is granted."

The office of National Hockey League Commissioner Gary Bettman has not responded to requests for comment.
