Elite gamesmanship if that’s what it is. Otherwise, the situation is rather dire.

Anaheim didn't really win the series because Edmonton was tired.

And thus the only pure homer broadcast team goes away.

Like we needed more proof that the Oilers needed more than a second and third stringer for goaltending. The Ducks deserved this one.

Dostal's numbers were no better then Ingram's and at EV strength, they're worse. Oilers actually had a 901 SV% vs 879 SV% at EV. Ducks out chanced them 136-107 at EV strength.
Oilers are a flawed team that struggles defensively.
Ducks PP went 50%.
Oilers gave up 26 goals in 6 games. 25 in 5 games if you take out the 4-1 win. That's not a goaltending issue.
McD/Bouchard were on for 10 EV goals against. Drai/Hyman 9.
I think Woodcroft should get more credit then he's getting. He knows the Oilers pretty well and they shut McD down who had 2 EV pts in 6 games.
The better team won. Ducks were simply better and wanted it more.

I've been surprised Woodcroft hasn't been able to find another head coach job yet. His firing always seemed not totally justified. His work as an assistant with the Ducks might finally get him back into the head coaching ranks. He'd even be an interesting option here.

I get the stats and it's not just goaltending, but you're foolish to believe an Ingram/Jarry tandem was even a reasonable starting point for goaltending let alone an end point. Yes, Dostal was bad too, but that doesn't mean goaltending wasn't a problem for the Oilers.

"Oilers gave up 26 goals in 6 games. That's not a goaltending issue." It's way more accurate to say "not the only issue" which I 100% agree with.

I also think the "wanting it more" narrative is kind of ridiculous.

I was thinking the same thing. I thought he got a raw deal when he was fired but still surprised he never got another job yet. I know it's unpopular to some but coach Q is the guy I wanted the Leafs to hire instead of Berube. The Ducks are a fun team to watch and are never out of a game.

First of all, I'm not foolish and know the Oil need a goalie. I also know that they weren't the reason they lost. My point was the Ducks overcame their bad goaltending and won the series. Switch the goalies and they still lose the series.
Ridiculous in your mind or not, the Ducks were willing to do more then the Oilers to win.
