After the first LA rush was denied, Byfield does not backcheck the Willy breakaway and instead floats at the Leaf blueline and is available for the finish. Leafs got two back and if McCabe didn’t chase, a stop springs another breakaway chance.

Take his .51 hits per game (12th worst in the league out of ~500 since 2016 400GP), his low shot blocking, 100 foot game & how he didn't stand up for Matthews when his pass set him up for the knee injury and try to put that on the Florida Panthers. They would run him off so fast ....
If they traded Nylander and kept Marner, they'd probably be in the playoffs because their GAA wouldn't be 3rd worst in the league and their PP wouldn't not have been so dismal in the first half.
He's a wonderful scoring talent but too one dimensional. Had to be hard on Berube where there are two sets of conduct- one set for Nylander and the other set for the rest of the team who have to finish their checks, block shots, stand up for their teammates and play hard in both ends of the ice.

Would have kept 16 and traded 88 when they had the chance before Dubas got the boot. I would have done it last year if it was possible to sign 16. Leafs really f'd that up and here we are.
