Game Notes
VGK
-Adin Hill will likely start for the Golden Knights
-Newly acquired Rasmus Andersson has yet to make his Golden Knights debut due to immigration issues. It's possible he could play his first game for Vegas here since it's of course being played in Canada
-The Leafs will once again face Vegas on a 2nd half of their back-to-back. The Golden Knights lost 4-3 in Boston on Thursday, but they did enter the 3rd period of that game down 4-0
-Mitch Marner will of course play his 2nd NHL game ever against the Toronto Maple Leafs, and his first in the city of Toronto against the team that he spent his childhood rooting for and 9 years of his professional career playing for
TOR
-Joseph Woll will likely start for the Leafs
-All eyes will be on the Leafs defence at Friday's morning skate. OEL of course left Wednesday's game early with a lower body injury, and Carlo reportedly may have tweaked something in the game as well. Of the two OEL seemed more likely to miss time but reports late Thursday seemed to suggest that the Swedish machine may not be broke after all

I couldn't care less about Mitch Marner's return. I don't care about why he left. It's too bad, but this is where the Leafs are now. They need the two points. They need someone to step up. Clearly my efforts of cheering for the other team are not working.

So tonight I am a Leafs fan. Tonight I want them to win, because I have not seen them do so in over a month. The Leafs need a hero, and I am hoping that Auston Matthews can channel his inner "Mats" Sundin and have an epic game like this one:

In that game, with the Leafs needing a win to stay in the playoff race Mats refused to let the Leafs lose to the Florida Panthers. He scored four of the 6 Leaf goals that game and assisted on the other two. Auston Matthews has to commit to the "I don't want to talk about Mitch anymore" narrative and grab this team by the throat and refuse to allow another two points to slip away. He must dominate on both ends of the ice and punish Vegas for even daring to get on that plane and come to Toronto. He must unleash a hellscape of hockey talent on the opponent, for tonight the Leafs need a win. Tonight the Leafs must be VICTORIOUS!!!!

(this post will probably read better if you do so why playing the score that is playing while Aragon delivers his "It is not this day" speech at the end of Return of the King)

Great news we’re seeing the return of Stolarz between the pipes tonight. Let’s hope he’s ready for the big showdown with the return of Marner. No excuses for any of the Leafs. The spotlight is on this one and they are getting desperate for points . Leafs must be in the win-this-one-tonight mode!

If Myers plays tonight I think I might be done with the team until Bérubé gets canned. I can't watch him be a disaster on the ice every single game and get chance after chance

It's baffling to me that a professional coaching staff looks at his on ice performance and keeps thinking it's not worth trying literally anyone else.

Same thing with ignoring Quillan every time they call him up. It's Steeves all over again where the guy does all the things you want in the AHL and then gets negligible opportunities until he leaves for another organization
