NJ
?Jacob Markstrom (1-0-0, 1.00 GAA, .968 Sv%) will likely start for the Devils
?The Devils, of course under new head coach Sheldon Keefe, will open their season in North America after a successful 2-0 Global Series trip to Prague

TOR
?Anthony Stolarz (0-1-0, 1.03 GAA, .963 Sv%) will likely start for the Maple Leafs
?With Woll still out there's a chance Dennis Hildeby could start the first game of his career tonight instead of New Jersey native Stolarz going back to back
?All eyes are on possible line-up changes after dropping the first game of the season. Bobby McMann and Timothy Liljegren will both be hoping to get the nod this time

Obviously McMann in over Reaves is a good thing but I will say that Lorentz/Kampf/Reaves was a reasonably effective line.

I really liked Lorentz game last night.

It was, but with McMann in Reaves' place, they might actually be able to finish some of the chances they were able to generate. Lorentz was very good last night. Kampf's usage is a little hard to understand right now.

Lorentz hard-carried that line last night:

Kampf's existence confuses me at this point.  I'm not remotely sold on Holmberg as a 3C so I think the real solution is pushing him down to the 4th line.  I'd also like to sit down and question why Kampf got a partial NTC while also getting 2.4M in salary for multiple years.

Yeah, there's a lot of moving pieces to this roster and cap. I wouldn't be surprised if the LTIR becomes a revolving door as other guys get "injured" and guys come off the LTIR. LTIR rotation could include Jankrok, Kampf, Liljegren, Benoit, Reaves, Dewar, McMann, Timmins, and Hakanpaa. Not full-time on Robidas island but just 10-game vacations to the island? Call it NHL load management LTIR edition. Keep the band together and time it so that everyone is off the island come playoff time.

I heard Stolarz was also injury prone ? I would def play Hildebeast.

I?m not sure where that comes from. Look up his injury history, he barely has anything. His games played are a product of who was in front of him.

The league would come down hard on the Leafs for that kind of cap circumvention. LTIR abuse is already somewhat of a hot button issue. Anything that doesn?t come with real evidence of an injury is a punishment waiting to happen.

I get this is cool for everyone involved but I mean Stolarz has started games in New Jersey multiple times already. It's not like he's a rookie playing there for the first time.

Perfect time to spread out the minutes on a B2B especially with Reaves in the press box. They?re not going to do this (didn?t practice it).

The league has never come down on anyone for LTIR abuse. Kucherov?s shirt mocking the league was ridiculous. I am quite positive that at any one time almost every player in the league is dealing with some sort of ailment.

Yes, it?s those antics that have made it a hot button issue. The league has become more sensitive to those things over the last few years, to the point that it?s started to be discussed at BoG meetings this summer. Also, we all know the league loves to use the Leafs as an example, so, anything that feel like abuse - which using LTIR as a revolving door would absolutely qualify - is going to annoy Bettman and co. enough to come down hard. It?s begging to extra scrutiny and losing draft picks.

No way, the precedent has been set. Abuse it, plus a doctor note for anyone can be obtained. The Leafs are probably already doing it. Hakanpaa said he ?thinks? he?s good and Jankrok was practicing in full.
