I don't get it. Is Dubas on the giggle grass again?

Considering Jarry’s recent history and contract, not sure it’s a sober move for Edmonton, either. Needs a strong defence in front of him and the Oilers don’t have that.

Goalies are voodoo so anything can happen, but on paper this is a big win for Pittsburgh I think. Jarry almost exactly a year ago this time cleared waivers. Now he gets traded for a 2nd rounder and a half-decent bottom pair defenceman (and Skinner but on an expiring contract at least).

Jarry - 2.66 GAA .909 SV% this year

Jarry is 30; Skinner is 27
Jarry has a cap hit of 5.375M to Skinner's 2.6M

I get the move, but it seems like Edmonton gave up more than they should for a goalie having a hot streak. He has also been terrible in his limited playoff experience.

Jarry to Edmonton didn't exactly come way out of left field and half of the podcast's report on it (that it would come with 50% retention on Jarry) didn't and apparently never ever would have happened. So I'm not sure they really deserve kudos here.

No kudos needed. They just jumped the gun (probably an early sketch of the deal); Friedman gave them a little glove tap about that.

I just find it very funny.

Also why do this from Pitt's perspective? Are they actively trying to be garbage now?
