2025-26 NHL Thread

This seems like a move.

Stuart Skinner + Brett Kulak + 2nd + 3rd for Tristan Jarry+ Poulin + Spenser Stastney

Skinner - 2.83 GAA .891 SV% this year
Jarry - 2.66 GAA .909 SV% this year

Jarry is 30; Skinner is 27
Jarry has a cap hit of 5.375M to Skinner's 2.6M

I get the move, but it seems like Edmonton gave up more than they should for a goalie having a hot streak. He has also been terrible in his limited playoff experience.

Jarry to Edmonton didn't exactly come way out of left field and half of the podcast's report on it (that it would come with 50% retention on Jarry) didn't and apparently never ever would have happened. So I'm not sure they really deserve kudos here.

No kudos needed. They just jumped the gun (probably an early sketch of the deal); Friedman gave them a little glove tap about that.

I just find it very funny.

They shed Jarry's 5+ cap this year and next. Skinner essentially replaces him for half the cap, plus you get a bottom pairing NHL D and a 2nd rounder. I don't know if they're parcticularly high on Silovs (backup) but their defense is better than Edmonton's and maybe the thinking is Skinner can, at the very least, give them what Jarry's been giving them this year?

That can all be mostly true, but I can't see how Skinner is equal to Jarry looking at current sv%. I still wonder if they're capitulating.

They don't deserve shit. IF they truly "heard" about this deal, there was zero reason to apologize....zero.
