Jake Muzzin is out for the year
Matt Murray requires surgery (some time this week) and significant rehab, so he is also out for the year.
Bobby McMann is not cleared yet to participate fully in camp (last year injury) and will work with Group 3.
Two other minor injuries during Traverse City: Braeden Kressler and Ty Voit
Group 3 is focused on Development/Recovery, and players from that group might float into the main Groups (1/2).

Interesting. Keefe has obviously dabbled with this in the past but it always seems more out of desperation and doesn't last very long. Giving it a legitimate shot while all the other centre's are healthy is another story altogether.
Also I noticed that Matthews, Marner, and Tavares were all in group 1 for camp without Willy so that raised an eyebrow. Domi is also not in group 1 (Bertuzzi and Knies are) so that could be some indication of where Keefe wants to try everyone at least to start.

Am I the only one who finds it crazy that the league is starting training camp closer to the end of September, and is still holding 7 or 8 pre-season games for each team, only to have the season start after Canadian Thanksgiving?
No reason they shouldn't be in the midst of training camp right now with the season starting as the calendar month flips.

Based entirely on the two training camp groups I'm assuming the pre-pre-season expected regular season opening lines are:
Bertuzzi-Matthews-Marner
Knies-Tavares-Lafferty
Domi-Nylander-Jarnkrok
Gregor/Holmberg/McMann-Kampf-Reaves
Top-6 are all in group 1, bottom-6 are all in group 2. Certainly lots of time for that to change but Keefe generally doesn't just pick his camp groups/lines willy nilly.

Building 3rd line around Willy is a great idea imo. That would put a 40-goal scorer on each of the top 3 lines. Run all three lines evenly. I hope they stick with it.
