One (minor) UFA officially gone as Carl Dahlstrom's signed a 3-year deal to return to the SHL. Dahlstrom of course had that tough injury in training camp that kept him out of action until right before the end of the season where he played some games with the Marlies.

We can retain his rights if he is given qualifying offer

Liked SDA. Too bad it didn't workout for him.  He's got some good hands on him and I always hoped he and Robertson would play together on the Leafs one day.

Business as usual for the amateur scouting and player development group with this draft combine tidbit:

I'd fail that for sure. I'm not good at uber quick memory retention.

Some of it is recall surely, but really they're trying to measure for the aptitude for 'reading the play'.

It's like chess masters who can play multiple games and 'remember' the various sequences that reached those game states, but if you just randomly put down pieces all over the board, it'd confuse them. Those game states are like words or phrases in a language you are fluent in; you only need to see bits and bobs to trigger the whole picture. The fluency pushes all the mental load down to the instinct level.

For 'hockey IQ' that's reading the attack/defense structures, where players are leaning/looking, where the puck is heading, etc. Some of the best can read the game and also have near eidetic memories for plays/situations (Stamkos, Crosby come to mind).

Have seen Conor Browns name come up a few times in dispatches as a potential free agent signing. Would love to see him back.
I Saw Jay McClement Score.

If he is affordable! We're a bit flush with RWs if Acciari re-signs (Marner, Nylander, Jarnkrok, Lafferty, Acciari) though all but Marner have been used in LW/C positions. If we're fishing for depth signings or trades, I'd favour picking up more LW or RH Cs. Right-hand PK faceoff takers especially.

If we can swing the pieces for him, without losing Nylander or Knies, Elias Lindholm would be a great way for Treliving to start this transaction sheet.

This shouldn't bother me as much as it does but I still can't believe that Steve Dangle decided to name his podcast network the "Steve Dangle Podcast Network" and Chris Johnston decided to name his podcast which is hosted on the "Steve Dangle Podcast Network" "The Chris Johnston Show".

Like, come on.

I mean a more appropriate name for their network is probably the Sports Interactive Podcast featuring Steve/Chris.  Don't forget to Gamble!  None of those seem like huge losses.  I still like Kerfoot, but I don't think he fit well in any particular spot in the lineup well enough to keep him.  The turnover on the team is going to be wild and with Buffalo, Detroit, and who knows what Ottawa are going to do, that's going to be interesting.

Well, azzurri just had his day made.  No more Holl.
