Is it a reach for me to say the leafs signed the 2 biggest UFAs that were available in this year's (albeit shallow) pool?

I was just going to post, I have my doubts about Chayka's judgment but the guy is an Excitement Generator. Combined with Mats' magic pingpongball powers, we've had more fun here in the last week than in all the time Tre was here.
 
Well, the Leafs are certainly going to be different this season. Better? I don’t know, but definitely different. Harder to play against, for sure.
 
The Leafs are now over the cap. Not by a significant amount, but they are over the cap. When they send MacEwen down, and if/when Domi goes on LTIR that can be cleared up.

It feels like a lot of moving parts still. You still
jam in a Norris trophy winner if you can get him.
 
Plugging Andrae in at $2mil and McKenna at $1.025miil (not including bonuses which he'll hit some of) this is our current roster and cap situation (lines are mostly just for show):

McKenna-Tavares-Nylander
Cowan-Paul-Sissons
Joshua-Blueger-Duhaime
Lorentz

McCabe-Raddysh
Rielly-Tanev
Andrae-OEL
Stecher

Bobrovsky
Stolarz

That's a cap hit of $102.5mil (not counting Domi) so $1.5mil under the cap. So at this point we're essentially capped out other than being able to add a 23rd roster player.

Obviously there's still a potential Rielly trade that could completely change our cap situation.

A lot of “optionality and flexibility” within each role group. And many of the bottom six don’t have to be everyday players, and can be rotated for matchup options (fast vs heavy). Kind of want to rotate Knies and Cowan into the third line for some interesting looks.

It is also very funny that we have imported some enemy combatants between the TBL/FLA wars to brawl for us
