I've flip-flopped on that constantly. When healthy I prefer Stolarz, I always think back to the last playoffs and how much of a turning point him getting knocked out was. But this past season was such a disappointment with injuries for him it was almost enough to turn the tide. Not like Woll has a sparkling clean injury history either though.I would have rather kept Woll over Stolarz![]()

32 vs 27, I think Woll can eventually put it together and become a stud. Stolarz is at the age where he's gonna start going downhill in both skill and health.I've flip-flopped on that constantly. This. Woll is the goalie I would NOT have traded.
But I guess Chayka is looking to build a team for the next 2 years and Stolarz is their best bet, apparently.
Yuck.
The Leafs are gonna need one of Akhtyamov or Hildeby to play a lot of games. What is the realistic over/under on number of games that Stolarz can play? I'll set the bar at 29.5
I would guess a selling point of acquiring Ersson would be that (assuming he's re-signed) he's not-great (aka bad) enough that he'll likely get through waivers easily at the beginning of the season and be able to serve as a pretty experienced 3rd NHL goalie when injuries inevitably hit.The Leafs are gonna need one of Akhtyamov or Hildeby to play a lot of games. They could have carried 3 goalies until one of the top 2 gets hurt, which is highly likely. Anyway we'll see how it goes I guess. This is the first domino, there are more trades coming.I think the calculus here is that Stolarz would have netted no return and to try to carry that into the season while retaining Woll would eventually lead to the loss of Hildeby.
He also wasn't great for a good chunk of the season - not that he got any help from the team in front of him. Like I said earlier, I don't think he's ever going to the the guy. He's a solid part of a tandem, but, overall, his numbers are largely pretty average.Woll did not help his trade value at the World Championships
4? starts, ~.780 save percentage, ~3.8GAA - something like that - it was ugly - they parked him
I mean sure but no one is going to take on that stupid Stolarz contract.I would have rather kept Woll over Stolarz![]()
I like Woll, and it's nice to have a drafted goalie who turned into something. But just something about him, I dunno, worried me. Like I feel that he shrinks in big games.I've flip-flopped on that constantly.
