But also for anyone who's kept up with the analytics trend in hockey from the start it's truely even more incredible to see Tyler Dellow be a Stanely Cup champion.

As much flack as Toronto gets, Winnipeg's year wasn't much better. President trophy team that flamed out in the playoffs, they let a core member walk away in free agency, they missed the playoffs altogether and are now at a crossroads, and the player they let walk just won a cup with his new team in his first year there.

Here's what we learned this playoffs. Mitch Marner can put up points in the playoffs in a sheltered, 3rd line role and also, he still disappears when the games matter most.


(At the end of the day, Marner spurned the Leafs and chose to go elsewhere. I think it's ok to dunk on him right now)

I’m giving the Jets a standing ovation the next time they’re in town for their contribution to the Cup win. Just a fantastic farm system for developing gamers for big league teams.

Blogger Tyler Dellow has gotten under the skin of most of the hockey establishment at one point or another, but his targeting of Sun Media columnist Steve Simmons has been especially biting. Like, on a Luis Suarez level – read “Dear Steve” for a glimpse at that.

Groundbreaking? Simply (him and Rantanen) maybe made a mistake not going (or staying in Carolina?) Not much more to it. Players spurned Carolina, they won anyway.

It was reported at the time, Marner would have accepted a trade to Vegas... so, maybe a little disingenuous.
