We send Stolarz for a conditioning stint and then don't even get him into a game. He did not look sharp at all. Hildeby was fantastic in the game against Winnipeg and gets demoted for that performance.

Using Tavares and Rielly on PP1 needs to stop

Completely outplayed in the 3rd period. This team doesn't care

But that's just it. We're the ones that support this. We keep lining their pockets by watching the games and buying the jerseys and going to the games. It's never going to change. They get our money so why should they change. Why fix what ain't broken? In a capitalist system, all you need is money.
 
Pretty disappointed. Maybe starting Hildeby would have been a better tactic but I can see the idea of some Stolarz magic returning from injury. Didn’t happen.

A lot of players that just weren’t good enough, can’t rise to the occasion. I expected a better effort, more energy.

Still lacking more through the lineup. Like LK said, why did Laughton play so little?

They didn't send Stolarz on a conditioning stint. He went to practice with them only. Stolarz would have to agree to playing with the Marlies. Obviously he didn't.
The lack of ice for Laughton is a joke.
PP1 decisions fall back on Berube and he should be fired for going back to it.
They care, they're just not very good.

The decisions are not only deplorable but incompetent. There is zero ability to justify them The most egregious was putting Stolarz in that position. This was akin to an exhibition game for him. Even IF he “begged” for the game. Bérubé should have said nope and that was that….but no…

The bigger the opportunity to prove this a fallacy the more they s**t the bed. This season I truly don’t have the ability to care. I’ll throw the game on while I am occupied but sit and watch….and then turn off or away.
 
This should’ve been an easy game to get up for. If they want to get into playoff mode, I don’t know why they downplayed it and took the worst of their Keefe style and merged it with the worst of their Berube style.

He’s a dunderhead, but Matthew Tkachuk is absolutely correct when he says he doesn’t care about the puck on shift 1. Just go out, run a guy to ramp up the temperature and throw the opponent off. Any one of the new guys would’ve been a folk hero for decades for just knocking Marner down on his first shift (he’s hard to hit, granted).

There’s your urgency and simplicity: neutered on purpose.

I agree with the Laughton ice time incompetence but not as much on Stolarz. That's on Stolarz more then anyone. He could have agreed to play a few games with the Marlies this weekend even though they're on the road, but apparently he didn't see the need. What's Berube going to do? Play him against the Avs on Sunday? Buff on Tuesday? If he's "ready" to go he goes. When Tanez came back after a long layoff they didn't pick and choose what game he was going to play in. Same goes for goalies.

I think they'd have more then just 2 more wins. Stolarz has played in 14 games this season. He's been above .890SV% just 5 times. His last 2 before the injury, 7 goals on 30 shots. If he played as good as Woll/Hildeby this year the Leafs are in a playoff spot. He has not been good except for the odd game. Too many weak goals are the norm for him this year. How many last night could they have used a save on? He simply wasn't good enough, again.
