That game was much closer than the score indicates.
It was disjointed and sloppy as games early on are so it is hard to get a read on where those teams are at.
There were some encouraging flashes from a number of Leafs. It is going to take a number of games to see how this roster shakes out.
An overtone left from preseason is they seem to be getting beat in races for the puck more frequently. We'll see how that goes.
They got a W so I won't complain too much.

Yes, no sense overthinking G1. By far the most encouraging thing was the play of Rielly. Head and shoulders above the other Leafs as best player for the team.
