With the 2 recent loses and the Leafs sliding back into 8th, Burke may have a real issue moving forward.

If he doesn't make a big trade and the Leafs miss the playoffs, there'll be questions as to why he didn't try to improve the team. If he does make a big trade and they don't make it there'll be even more questions.

Tough spot to be in for Burke unless the Leafs can stop the slide soon, and starting winning some games before the deadline.

I really wasn't trying to over exaggerate a 2 game losing streak. I was referring more to the slide from 7th to 8th spot. But Burke has some hard decisions to make, even if the Leafs are able to hold on to that last playoff spot leading up to the deadline. Whatever roster moves, or non moves Burke makes will be thoroughly scrutinized if they fail to make the playoffs again after being so close.

Tough spot to find himself in if that decision becomes the ultimate factor in whether or not the Leafs secure a playoff berth.

After that insult of a game Burke is wise to hide for a few days as not to punch a media guy or two for the questions they will throw at him, and while he is at it, he should do something to get this team to wake the heck up.

Yeah, after they won 3 straight all the media was saying Burke would stand pat cuz their roster was rockin. Not so much now, but the problem now is with all the scouts in attendance over this stretch, why would any team want the pieces of the Leafs that we don't care about either?

Burke is entertaining, and has made some good moves, no question.  But the team is falling down the chute now, and he needs to take responsibility for 2 bad moves that are really haunting us.

First, the extension to Wilson.  He didn't deserve it, and if he hadn't been given it, Burke would have at least given himself the option of replacing him now.

Second, giving (or endorsing the giving of) the C to Phaneuf.  Again, he didn't deserve it.  And he's done nothing to prove that he will ever be an effective leader. 

BB has boxed himself into a corner when he didn't need to.  He can't get rid of Wilson, and he can't give the C to someone else (or even consider trying to trade him), w/o having to submit himself to major embarrassment.  Which, for all his bluster, he is quite unwilling to do.

Yeah, nothing new here.  But still, it needs to be said.

Gd it. The more I think about this the madder I get. All of us beach about Komi being a scratch. Well it's Phaneuf who should be. But can't because to scratch the captain would mean losing too much face for both coach and gm. We should be resigning players like Grabs and doing our best to get rid of overpaid underachievers like Phaneuf. Instead we will probably lose Grabs and we are stuck with a so called leader who is anything but.

If there's anything I enjoy about the Leafs losing, it's the fact that I can't stand Burke as a person and I enjoy seeing him get all pissed off and defensive when he gets grilled. I also don't think he's all that great of a GM.

I also don't think he's all that great of a GM.

From what I have seen, he needs to improve.  He has not done the leafs any favor. 

How he continues to let Ron Wilson coach is something my brain can't come to terms with.
