Handing over a 1st overall pick would cause the franchise a lot of turmoil. Even if they don't win the lottery, the icing on the cake will be if Ryan decides not to re-sign between now and next summer.

I get that, but, since the Leafs are not likely to make the playoffs, I want them to win the lottery, not the sens.

Anaheim also has the Leafs' 2nd rounder.  Going to have a few high picks this year.

Yeah. I think maybe it's time you come to terms with that not happening.
 
The last slice of the pizza line! Spezza more or less had 1 foot out the door his whole time here and the rumors of him being on the market never really went away. Should be able to get some nice assets back for him at least - there seems to be a fair amount of legitimate interest for him already. Murray does have his work cut out for him this summer with the likes of Hemsky / Michalek and now Spezza leaving town. Gives more ice-time for a guy like Curtis Lazar next season.
