My guess is replies to this thread are going to focus a lot on how neat it would be to add OEL and not so much at the supposed Mitch Marner price tag.

I watch the Coyotes a lot live and while I like OEL I wouldn't be willing to pay ransom for him.  He is good offensively, ok at best defensively,  but his give a poop meter runs rather cold IMO.  He hasn't been tgat great for the Coyotes in a couple of seasons.  Could he regain ground?  I think so but there is risk involved if the price is high.

I?m struggling to come up with one but who was the last ?great defenseman? who spent years in a bad wnvironment and then went on to be a superstar when with a better organization?

OEL makes the Leafs defense better but at the same time the cost is gong to be steep and I don?t think his skill set is necessarily the key piece that is lacking on the blue line.  Great offensive defenseman who can carry and pass the puck are valuable but I think we need someone who can step in and be a mobile defender more.
