NHL Draft 2026

Thanks for making it weird O-Dog!

As if Tavares doesn’t already have dibs and an amulet and red light already labeled for the kid.

I think the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2026 offer an excellent landing spot for any high end draft prospect, let alone a highly touted 1st overall pick. It’s not going to be Bedard to Chicago on an island, or Laffreniere with all the expectations and none of the development. Landing at the same time as a new (good) coach is also going to be great for him as he’ll be learning alongside the vets (and some almost-kids) and become part of the system-design, rather than trying to shoehorn into something firmly established.

So Chayka will travel to White Horse to see McKenna but not Arizona to see Matthews. (sarcasm intended)

Unless a team offers a stupid package I see absolutely no scenario where we don't draft the BPA and that is McKenna.

Would rather just keep 1st OA and trade for the Chicago pick and get a centre or defenseman there. Unless the Sharks are truly doing Rielly for the second OA 1 for 1 (a fireable offense for Grier, and Chayka would warrant a statue immediately).

Yeah I’d try and get the Chicago pick (would Rielly go there?) if Reid was still available maybe.

Might need to get a Raddysh in the interim though cos if we lose Rielly our D is even less mobile.

Leafs relevant in two recent episodes of this podcast I've never heard of before (but linked to it upthread lol), summarized in the above article
