The bight side is that most of the players that were tied to Leafs are already traded before tomorrow.

Less stupid trades.

I liked the price that Vegas payed for Hanafin, 75% retained, not outrageous, specially if they can re-sign him.

But some move is in the works, otherwise the Leafs just spent a draft pick to retain an extra 25% for nothing on the Lyubushkin Deal.

I don't really get this. With a healthy D we have:

Rielly-Lyubushkin
Brodie-Liljegren
Benoit-McCabe
Giordano
Timmins
Lagesson

Is burning a 3rd and a 5th rounder worth I guess bumping Benoit out of the line-up and possibly losing Lagesson and/or Timmins to waivers?

Maybe Brodie is being bumped from the line-up? (And should be IMHO)

4 picks for Lyubushkin and Edmundson

Timmins and Giordano in questionable state. Don?t really want to see Lajoie or Lagesson getting real minutes, so I get that.

I mean these picks will probably end up being nothing, but it's still something, and I just don't really understand the makeup of this team. Like you look at Vegas and it makes sense. You look at us and we look like we're just randomly cobbled together hoping that Matthews, Marner and Willy can deliver and that's it.

Don't even know this guy.  A brief rundown would be appreciated. I am not a Twitter person.

Big. Defence first. Went on two long playoffs runs with St. Louis and Montreal recently. The kind of player who has more value in the playoffs than the regular season.

Cross checking Nick Cousins szn

Edmundson can play both D positions.

Brodie, McCabe, Edmundson are the left shot RD options now, along with Liljegren, Lyubushkin, Timmins. But we don?t want Brodie on RD and kind of don?t want Giordano on the ice except to receive the Cup from Tavares.

He will be nasty in front of the net.

That's how it's always going to be. They have to produce and it still might not be enough.

Maybe he's a Gio replacement?

As things stand (and obviously for all we know other moves big or small can still happen) post-deadline the Leafs will be able to afford a roster with up to 25 current players on it. That means two of: Jones, Reaves, Gregor, Holmberg, Robertson, Benoit, Giordano, Timmins, and Lagesson will need to either be reassigned/waived/LTIR'd.

Unnecessary yet necessary trade, if that makes sense.  I don't hate the trade...don't love it either.

I'd rather not see Treliving blow a 1st on some player nowhere worth it like we've seen the last few years.  And the draft capital of the team is severely compromised the next couple years, so he's handcuffed in what he can do.  So a deal like this and the one for Lyubushkin are fine for a blueline that severely needs some extra bodies and toughness added to it.

We?ve mortgaged too much in past years at the deadline for what? Nothing. As long as Treliving doesn?t get rid of another 1st and any of our top prospects I?ll be happy because I?m not sold on this current roster going anywhere. The way we are too top heavy in salary and cap strapped it?s always going to be fill in with scrubs that aren?t going to make a significant difference. We?ve seen how it?s played out every trade deadline. Leafs need to restructure this team come summer and it starts with getting a bonafide defenceman who can chew up minutes and QB the power play. We are thin with picks so I hope Treliving doesn?t give up what little we have.

I like his game and playoff experience, but the team still needs a right shooting D-man. I'd be fine with Dumba.

I certainly wouldn't be quite as in favour of it as I was with Sandin but I wonder if we see a similar move where Lily gets dealt for a 1st rounder and Dumba's brought in as a cheaper immediate replacement:

Rielly-Lyubushkin
Brodie-McCabe
Edmundson-Dumba

When the Leafs trade Marner in the offseason, we will have a boatload of picks coming our way, ton of cap space and Cowan ready to step in
