(17-17-3) Tampa Bay Lightning vs Toronto Maple Leafs (18-15-5)

full preview: http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/preview?gid=2012010321

The Tampa Bay Lightning are still out of the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference, but they?ve been working their way back in.  The Toronto Maple Leafs need to improve their penalty killing or they could keep heading in the opposite direction.  The Lightning go for a season-high fourth consecutive victory when they try to extend their point streak in Toronto to eight Tuesday night.  A game from advancing to its second Stanley Cup finals last season, Tampa Bay (17-17-3) closed out 2011 in 12th place in the East with 37 points - four back of 10th-place Toronto (18-15-5).

I have a pair of seats for tonight's game for sale (face value) if anyone is interested.  I can e-ticket them to you too, to save the hassle. (Yes it really does work).

PM me if you are interested.

Great, another goaltending mess. Just remember the goaltending mess Burke had in Vancouver.

Why?

Because it went on forever and he never managed to fix it before being shelved (Snow, Potvin, Weekes, Cloutier, Essensa - that is just a pile of mediocrity). History is repeating itself.

Reimer and Jonas don't strike me as being the same quality as most of those goalies and Nonis got the job done there, no? ( drafted Schneider and traded for Lou ) I don't know why Brian had some difficulty sorting that out but he did rid the `Nyucks of Snow pretty quick ( I think he inherited Snow from Quinn and Weekes was a minor part of the Bure trade brought in as a back up ) Essensa was brought in to back up Potvin but was a crowd favourite and outplayed the starter for the most part that year.

Cloutier, while not a great goalie, had 3 decent seasons under Burke ( his best 3 seasons actually ).

Jonas is the only goalie Burke has brought in past drafts, the only thing that seems similar to me is the dearth of goaltending talent he inherited, for history to repeat itself Brian will have to make a few trades...

file this game under 'I don't give a flying fig'........ Canada plays Russia tonight!

Canada game is at like 9pm EST I think, whereas this one starts at 7.  You can get a good 2 periods in before the CAN-RUS game. :)
