Canucks vs. Leafs - Oct. 31st, 7:00pm - SN

Not much of a game. Struggled to watch the whole thing.

I continue to enjoy what MacEwen brings. Sissons as well. McKenna continues to improve every single game. The fact that you can stick him with Sissons and Joshua and he turns the line into a real scoring threat (for stretches of the 2nd, they were the best line on the ice), says a lot about how talented the kid is. His vision is off the charts.

Also, can we just anoint Stolarz the starter already? At least until he gets injured again?

Willy has a G, A, 2 giveaways, 1 penalty, 1 faceoff (loss). Just needs a takeaway and faceoff win, a hit, and a block to cover the sheet
Blueger had everything Willy had except the penalty and one less giveaway
He also won 67% of his faceoffs
He had the following that Willy did not:
1 Missed shot
3 Hits
1 Takeaway
1 Blocked shot

The only stat other than penalty that he was missing was Attempts Blocked

4th line has been helping during the last few games
He's also improved on faceoffs to be above 50% now
So I thought I'd put a little plug for him

I'd buy the Willy is hurt argument. He was flying the first 10 games and has been slow for the last bit. We know he played hurt last year. It's not great if he's having multiple consecutive seasons of being hurt though. He puts up points but his lazy defensive play gets exposed when he isn't as dynamic offensively

I'm not sure how reliable NHL Edge data is. It seems to take time - many games to gather its data.
I wouldn't swear up and down on it at this juncture of the season.
But it might be notable that of the Leafs regulars, the skater with the second largest drop off in skating speed compared to last year on this team is Nylander - who had the fastest skating speed on the team last year.
Now we have seen him get breakaways so that may defy some of what NHL Edge got. But maybe it corroborates that he's been slowed down of late - he's not getting to top speed.
