2026 Blue Jays

Last in the AL East 17-32 against teams >.500

This is just a bad team. It will be interesting to see how long Atkins gets to keep the glow of the World Series run because this team has a .507 winning percentage over the last 2.5 seasons despite having the 4th highest payroll in baseball.

Oh man, I just can't understand how anyone thinks Atkins can be the problem. Their 2 most important offensive positions are DH and 1B; the latter was signed by Ed Rogers (buoyed by the ridiculous Jays fan base) to a laughable, albatross contract and is putting up, literally, one of the worst seasons ever by a starting 1B in Blue Jay history, and the former position is utilized by our manager to play a sub-.700 OPS player every single day at the top of the order, or cleanup. Half of the entire pitching staff is either hurt or has been hurt for most of the season, to say nothing of the injuries on the offensive side.

Valenzuela, Pinango, Clase, Keys, Yesavage, Miles, Cease, Barger (last year), Okamoto (all from top of my head, the list surely goes on)- these guys were either drafted, signed or picked up for peanuts recently....A moderately healthy team with Vlad playing anywhere NEAR the value of his contract and an actual major league manager who can make tough decisions would have this team comfortably in a playoff spot right now.

Apparently, they need to go something like 43-23 to make the playoffs. They're sitting at 45-51. Need to win at a 0.621 rate when they have won at a 0.469 rate to date. I would say the season is over. I hope they make some baseball trades for guys with contracts, retool, and get some controllable players with the hopes of improving the roster for next season.

Agreed. Sell! Regroup for next year.

They don't have much to sell. And I'm not even sure there's going to be a season next year.

Maybe baseball brings out the optimist in me but I think they may put it together to close out the year.

Varsho could be dealt. Gausman would be a valuable trade target if the Jays decide to pack it in. Deal Lukes. Maybe Hoffman? Prolly no one wants Springer.

I guess but that pretty much guarantees a bottom of the league finish. And there's no real value in tanking. And I doubt any of them bring in much of anything.
