Seems about right honestly. I thought 1.5M. little bit of sweetener is fine by me.

It?s less than he?s worth
Don't get me wrong I'm glad he's back but with only a 39 game sample we have no idea if Mikheyev is actually that good or just had the best 39 games of his career.   Hopefully he keeps up the strong play we saw for the half season.

Would have been nice to get a super sweet $1mil arbitration award for 2 years, but odds are the arbitrator would just go with the standard "split the difference" approach and that would have been $1.85mil. I guess going through that process wasn't worth the risk.

With the way he performed before his injury you have to hope this turns out to be a bargain.

Now, is he more than twice as good as Jumbo?  Thats another q.

Yeah I guess. I'm amazed the agent could come in with 2.7, like that's cray cray for a 39 game sample. Hell why not ask for $5M? Lol

I was looking at some comparisons and Oskar Lindblom's name jumped out at me. He played just 30 games this past season because of his cancer diagnosis and he scored 18 points in those games. That's a slightly higher pace than Mikheyev albeit in less games. The Flyers signed him to a 3-year, $3mil AAV extension this summer. Granted he also had a 31 point season the year before so it's not entirely the same as Mikheyev. But I don't think his ask was that crazy, all depends on how much an arbitrator would value a partial season and we really don't know the answer to that.

His individual shooting percentage was like 8%, which is just under league average. On-ice shooting percentage for his linemates was a tick higher at just over 9%, again, pretty average. When he was on the ice, he was north of 50% on chance share, shot share, expected goal share, goal share. Nothing in his numbers suggests he was performing well above norms; of course he could still under perform, but his playstyle is not particularly streaky.

That's the thing. Like his P/60 was insanely high, I don't really think there's a chance he keeps that up over a full season so I don't think we should get too down on him if he doesn't hit 50 points next season. But at the same time there just wasn't an indicator that he was playing way over his head other than just general logic.

I think they were saying that most ARB cases get split down the middle so Leafs just saved themselves a couple hundred grand.
It's a good deal. Dermott and Joey Anderson are next. Dermott will take what the Leafs offer. Hope Dubas signs him to a 2 year deal.

I think you guys are all nuts. It seems low to me, especially in comparison to Kerfoot's $3.5M AAV.
