Sounds like Paul MacLean will play the eye in the sky role for the Leafs coaching staff, advising in all areas of the game.— Jonas Siegel (@jonassiegel) September 25, 2020

McLean will be the eye in the sky coach, not on the bench, per Jonas Siegel

It’s worth mentioning that Paul MacLean is the father of Marlies assistant coach A.J., who is one of Sheldon Keefe’s best friends and has worked with him for more than a decade. Keefe and Paul aren’t walking into this blind to one another — at all.— Scott Wheeler (@scottcwheeler) September 25, 2020

Those guys aren't listed as assistant coaches though, Brewer was so I assume MacLean is replacing his old role.
Can't wait to see this guy's duster in action
There are some funny connections here to controversial coaching figures in Leafs history: MacLean was a long-time assistant to Mike Babcock, who brought MacLean with him from Anaheim to Detroit, where the two won a Cup together in 2008. He rejoined Anaheim?s staff after his exit from Ottawa ? serving as an assistant to one Randy Carlyle.MacLean was also a part of the opposition?s coaching staff a few weeks ago in the playoffs, having joined John Tortorella?s bench as an assistant in Columbus a month into the season.
Do we also get that fan who looked identical to him behind the bench?
