So Matthews was MotM in 4 of 5 playoff games and the HM in the 5th. Shows how well he played this series.

If there's one positive in this series it's that even ZBBM acknowledged his "eliteness"!

 :)

Yep, he proved himself to even hardened skeptics like me.  He led the way and did everything you could ask of a star player.

Some observations on player performance based solely on the MotM voting this year:

β€’ Matthews easily the MVP β€” not even close. Got votes in over half the games (38), and that is probably a first.  Funny thing is, he only got voted MotM 6 times in victories.
β€’ Nylander's point totals were deserved; a breakout season for him.
β€’ Marner and Tavares were abysmal β€” 12 and 13 points.  Hyman outscored them.
β€’ It kind of sticks out like a sore thumb now that I look at the point totals, but the outside of the Big 4 and Hyman and Mikheyev, none of the forwards did much of anything.  That lack of production from the bottom 6 hurt us badly against CBJ.
β€’ The defense is awful.  Rielly had a terrible year, especially; Barrie outpointed him.  Ceci was a full-on disaster.
β€’ Freddie was Freddie: pretty darned good, mostly.

Kind of looking at it now, I think we are still stuck in the low teens, ranking-wise, as a team.  That is not good.
