Sucks, but there is so much silver lining.More LTIR used to bring up 4th line churn while we explore whether or not Boyd/Anderson/Brooks/Barabanov can give middle-six minutes. Simmonds can really work on his skating in the meantime and come back even more terrifying to Vancouver.
I wonder if the Leafs can go the emergency route with Simmonds? If they can they can technically use Engvall for 9 games and not have his waiver eligibility change so they could technically have 12 more games of him being waiver exempt.

Don't think being recalled on an emergency basis would mean anything for Engvall. The process you're thinking of just deals with players who have already cleared waivers.

Bad timing. I've underestimated this guys impact for sure.
