Yankees tame the Jays winning 12-6.

It was more or less a learning experience for the young Jays in playing against baseballs best.  For Bo Bichette, it sure wasnt. This guy surely knows no bounds as he made MLB history as he doubled for the ninth straight game.  Plus, he now has twelve extra base hits in eleven games.

Bichette with a two-run shot (finished the night with 3 RBIs), Reese McGuire & Derek Fisher each with solos, with McGuire getting four hits on the night.

Jays starter Thomas Pannone was dinged for seven of the Yankee runs in two innings.  Newly acquired (off waivers) Zach Godley  fared somewhat better allowing three runs in three innings.  Well, get the idea.  None of the Jays pitchers could stem the Yankee offensive tide.  Only Jason Adam was able to quiet down the Yankee bats before giving way to Boshers (and some extra New York runs).

One of those crazy games that is every pitchers nightmare.  Happens.

P.S.  Attendance was at 34,000+.

What a difference tonight!  The Blue Jays silenced the Bronx Bombers 8-2 with a powerhouse offensive and pitching display.

Toscar Hernandez with two homers,  and Grichuk & Jansen with one tater each, along with some stellar defensive plays, most notably Bo Bichettes diving catch of a Didi Gregorius hit with the bases loaded in the fifth.  Quite possibly the save of the game (the Blue Jays at that point were riding a 6-1 lead).

Hernandez and Jansen finished with 3 RBIs each, and Grichuk with 2.

Jays starter Sean Reid-Foley was stellar in the five innings he pitched, allowing one run, striking out five and getting the win.  The bullpen held their own in relief.

Guerreros Triple in the seventh inning was worth two runs scored as it helped the Blue Jays to comeback from a 4-3 deficit to eventually win the game 5-4 yesterday.

Hernandezs three-run homer lifted the Jays to a 3-1 lead in the fourth inning, but the Yankees came back to tie and then take the lead until Vladdy Jr.s triple in the seventh.

Speaking of Guerrero, hes definitely on fire.  Consider this:

Over his past 20 games, Guerrero has hit .388 (31-for-80) with five home runs, seven doubles, his first three-bagger, eight walks and 25 RBIs. The young phenom also leads all rookies in the Majors this season with 11 games with three hits or more, and he has hit the ball harder than anyone in baseball.

Most balls hit 115-plus mph, 2019:

1) Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (TOR): 7
2. Aaron Judge (NYY): 4
3-T) Gary Snchez (NYY): 3
3-T) C.J. Cron (MIN): 3
3-T) Nelson Cruz (MIN): 3
3-T) Pete Alonso (NYM): 3

Yankees win 1-0 and the Blue Jays gain a split of this four-game series.

Some great defensive gems showcased in todays game, primarily from Bichette & McGuire.

Also Toscar Hernandez has been on a tear:

Jays starter took a tough one today as he pitched brilliantly, allowing one run, striking out six in six innings on the mound.

The Texas Rangers (58-58) pay a visit to the Rogers Centre for a three-game series against the Blue Jays (49-71).

The Rangers are 14 GBL Houston Astros in the A.L. West division, but are only 9 GB for the A.L. WC spot.

The Blue Jays came off a split of their most recent series versus the Yankees.  Even though the Jays have a subpar w/l record, in the past 40 games, this team has played .500 ball.

Bo Bichettes record-setting pace has garnered him a .367 BA, four homers, seven RBIs.  Thirteen games isnt a lot of time to establish oneself in the major leagues, but Bichette has gone above and beyond anyones expectations, not that it should be of any surprise.  Having had an 11-game streak and hitting an extra base hit in nine straight games not since Ted Williams accomplished the feat in 1939 speaks in droves about the youngsters talent.

Ah, did we forget someone else?   Why, Vladdy Guerrero Jr., who has been a wrecking ball of late (actually since the second half of this season).  A .330 BA, .952 OPS, & 26 RBIs are propelling the young third baseman.

Good to see the future of this team coming into its own.

Feast!

The Blue Jays turned on the firepower in a 19-4 rout of the Texas Rangers.

Oh, what a night!  Those poor Rangers.  You dont say!

Four hits by Bichette, a Grand Slammer by Drury (whos on a nine-game hit streak), two-run homers from Smoak & Grichuk, RBIs after RBIs, hit after hit, run after run...every player in the lineup contributed with a marker of some sort.

Jays starter Neil Ramirez pitched just an inning, as Brock Stewart took over for the next five.  He allowed three runs and struck out three and got the win.  Buddy Boshers and Justin Shafer relieved.

Wow!

Thwack! Boom! Pow!

No, the Blue Jays did not go on a hitting expedition again as they had done in Monday nights run-scoring marathon.  This time it was a modest 3-0 win over the Rangers, but the Jays did bring out the power in doing so.

Toronto hit three solo homers one each by Grichuk, Hernandez and MdKinney which were all that was needed on this night.

Coupled with excellent shutdown roles by Font and  Pannone (winner) and the bullpen Mayza, Law, and Giles with the save.

Highlights:

Grichuk!

Applause! Aaplause!

Toscar!

Rangers finally steal one from the Jays winning 7-3.  Toronto still takes series two out of three.

Brandon Drury and Danny Jansen each had four hits and an RBI.

Jays starter Sean Reid-Foley took the loss pitching three innings in allowing three runs on four hits.

The Seattle Mariners (50-72) visit the Rogers Centre for a three-game series against the Blue Jays (51-73).

The Mariners and the Jays have near-identical w/l records, with Seattle being dead-last in their A.L. West division.

The Mariners are 3&7 in their last ten games, while the Jays are 6&4.

Toronto comes off having won two out or three from the Texas Rangers in their most recent series.

The Jays Randal Grichuk has been a torch this month with a 1.076 OPS ALONG WITH HRs13 RBIS and 6 HRs.  This is what the Jays signed him for anyways.  Grichuk has never been known as a first-half performer, so its no surprise to see him banging away.

Rowdy Tellez is back with the club after a stint in Triple A Buffalo.  Hope Rowdys gets his groove back.

In the spirit of summer...

Back-to-back home runs break club record!

Thats right.  Vladdy Jr., &  Grichuk both blasted back-to-back homers in the third inning enroute to the Blue Jays 7-3 win over the Mariners.

Derek Fisher and Danny Jansen also homered, with Fishers being a two-run tater earlier in the game.

Jays starter Jacob Waguespack was instrumental in keeping things in order on the mound.  He pitched five innings, allowed two runs, struck out five.
The relievers also contributed the rest of the way, except for a blip by Shafer who allowed the third Seattle run.

Highlights:

Vladdy & Grich!

Fishin for homers!

Jansen!

Jays lose 7-0.  Coupled with yesterdays 4-3 loss, Seattle takes series two games to one.  Ho hum.

In todays game, Mariners starter lefty Yusel Kikuchi stymied the Blue Jays to a measly two-hitter long into the ninth with the win.

The Blue Jays (52-75) visit Dodger Stadium in a three-game Interleafue series against the Los Angeles Dodgers (82-44).

The L.A.Dodgers, the N.L. West division leaders, sport the second-best w/l record in MLB after the A.L.Easts New York Yankees.  Not too far behind L.A. among baseballs best teams are the A.L.Wests Houston Astros.

The Dodgers are third in  the majors in home runs with 218, and Cody Belinger leads with 42 of those, the most of any current player.
L.A. is first in ERA (3.35) and first WHIP (1.11) and fourth in OPS (.341).

A familiar face for Jays fans in a Dodger uniform Russell Martin, former Jays catcher, long since traded to L.A.

It is unknown if Vladdy Guerrero Jr. will suit up at all for any of the games in this series.  His medical evaluation turned up negative with no major damage to his inflamed knee.  That was, is, of itself, a relief to the Blue Jays.
(It was the same knee that had Guerrero sitting out for five weeks back in Triple A Buffalo).

Its been nearly a decade since the Blue Jays last visited Dodger Stadium.

What a farce of a game this was.

One of the best among starters in the N.L, the Dodgers Clayton Kershaw kept the Jays offence off-balance for seven innings and the L.A. bullpen did the rest.  Only Bo Bichette and Derek Fisher was able to solve Kershaw, with Bichette hitting two successive home runs off him.
L.A. crushed the Blue Jays 16-3.

Kershaw, by the way, surpassed L.A. great Sandy Koufax in club wins,

What looked almost comical was seeing the recently recalled Richard Urea pitching in relief in the eighth inning.  (He allowed four runs on four hits).
As if that werent enough, it sure was a bit better than Jays starter Sean Reid-Foley who allowed five runs in one inning.  This just wasnt a Blue Jay pitchers night.
