Who were the Marlies C last year vs this year?

last year:
Miro Aaltonen
Chris Mueller
Fredrik Gauthier
Adam Brooks

Colin Greening and Ben Smith took earlier games in the middle when Brooks wasn't ready for action (mono).

This year:
Mueller
Brooks
Gagner
Cracknell
*shrug* probably Gauthier when Nylander signs

Yup. It's one of those rare win-win-win scenarios for everyone involved.

Hey, Gagner's back:

Here's the thing though. In 7 games with the Canucks he had 3 points in 7 games while averaging 18 minutes a night. That seems pretty respectable, especially considering Vancouver, you know, sucks. He also recorded a 58.21% CF in those games, which is fantastic. Vancouver is the 7th worst possession team in the league right now.

But who cares, their loss is the Marlies' gain. And with him, Klimchuk, and Carcone in the fold now their forwards are better/deeper than any other point this season. Probably planning on winning every game 7-5.

They lost Leipsic to LA on waivers earlier this week.

I'm guessing they're serious about uniting the Hughes brothers.

True story I just went on their capfriendly page and literally laughed out loud when I reminded myself what Gudbranson's contract was.

What's he thanking the Leafs for?  What team wouldn't take a good player to play on their AHL team and help show the rookies how to be a pro, all the while not having to pay him a red cent.  He was free for the Leafs organization lol

Actually, a lot of teams would probably want to use that spot on developing one of their own prospects.

Why rain on a nice thank you? My guess for the thanks is that they treated him very well, like one of their own and while it benefited both, they didn't have to. Could have possibly used that roster spot for a kid. Anyway, nice gesture on both parts.

Not raining on his parade, it was just a win-win for the Leafs.  They have a philosophy of building their own prospects by having them play on good teams and part of that is making the playoffs and having a good run in the AHL.  You need veteran guys to be able to do that like Greening last year and this, and Gagner fit that role as well.  Other organizations might not have done this, but it was a perfect fit for the Leafs, the fact they didn't even have to pay him was just funny, cause Vancouver found no use for him and allowed the Leafs organization to benefit while they foot the cost.

It still seems weird to wonder why he was grateful. They could have passed and he would have been stuck in wherever Utica is.
