@Real_ESPNLeBrun Hearing that the Canucks have shown interest in Leafs C Mike Santorelli, who of course played in Van last yr. Lotsa teams covet him though
we need to find an idiot like George McPhee when he traded Filip Forsberg from Washington to Nashville for Martin Erat..
Move him.I really like him as a player and who can play on the 2nd and 3rd lines. But, he's already 29 and I think what you see is what you get. If the team can get good value for him (I'm talking picks and prospects), they should pull the trigger.

He's a guy that fairly easily replaced with a cheap UFA in the summer. Won't get much more than a 2nd round pick or so in return, but, that's still good a nice addition for someone the Leafs added for nothing.

Would be fantastic if the Leafs hang on to their pick and end up with two or three 2nd rounders. I'd be really tempted to just hang on to all picks instead of moving up.

Sure, some of these guys aren't going to amount to anything but there are a handful of guys who are going to be drafting late in the 1st round who would be lottery picks last year. That only helps the 2nd round by pushing some talented guys back...and a lot of guys who might be overlooked because of their comparables.
Somebody on twitter brought up an interesting thought the other day: would any team have interest in Winnik and Santorelli as a package? If a team had any doubts about their bottom-6 that would instantly solve it. And their cap hits are low enough that it wouldn't be tough to fit them in. I could see a Vancouver or Pittsburgh being very interested in that.
Maybe. But would that substantially improve what the Leafs got as opposed to dealing them separately? Pittsburgh already traded their first and it seems unlikely that Vancouver would deal theirs.
