A good defensive team is going to eliminate scoring chances. They're not going to give the opposition time to pick the weak glove hand... ...or even expose the goalie in having one. And maybe the biggest, they're not going to make the goalie lose his confidence. If your team is good for three goals, there's a big difference in facing 20 shots or 40 shots. Let in a bad goal, it's okay... the team should win. But when you know 30 more shots are coming and you have to stop every one of them, I'm sure it's very stressful. The Leafs were getting goalies from teams that denied these goalies from being exposed. They get on the Leafs and they can't do it. Maybe Raycroft wasn't worth it, but if he had ended up in New Jersey instead of the Leafs, his career might of gone a different direction. There comes a time to realize the Leafs are ruining goalies more then the goalies are ruining the Leafs.
