I have Netflix - already getting past saturation. So many things on it I've started and never finished.

I also have Prime. Only watch two shows on it but I actually use the next day delivery often enough and the access to free books on kindle also helps.

Then I've my cable which has a whole pile of on demand content as part of it and is where I watch my movies mostly.

Finally I have 3 different sport channel subscriptions -

Sky Sports for Premier league football, golf, formula 1 and some cricket.

BT Sport for champions league football, some more Premier League football, some other cricket and European Cup rugby. And finally

Premier Sports for domestic rugby, NHL and British Elite League hockey (also KHL and Swedish league)

The split of those sports packages is the real killer for me. Bring back the monopoly when Sky owned all of the above sports, movies and TV shows. It was cheaper than the current "competition"

It's sort of ironic - I cut the cable because all of the "specialty channel" package add-ons, and happily paid for netflix (+OTA/grey market streaming for sports)

The way the landscape is shaping up now, those "specialty" offerings are back, in the form of competing streaming services.

I doubt I'll pay for more than one, so it'll really come down to who offers the consistently best original content.

Watching hockey is the only part I haven't figured out yet. The individual streaming subscriptions from Sportsnet or TSN are so expensive, I might as well keep full cable and have access to all the channels.

Gamecentre plus some kind of VPN/unblocker is the only viable solution for hockey right now.

There are other (ahem) NHL options (non reddit) that I've been pleased with this season. Not sure of board policy on that, so you're welcome to PM if you'd like the site.

The current Jeopardy champion is on quite a run.

He has broken the previous single day record of 77k 3 times in 9 wins, every time by a considerable margin (110k, 89k, 106k). He has won over 566k so far in 9 days.

He could have more too but he likes to fart around with his wagers to land on significant numbers (like Final Jeopardy to get his daughter’s birthdate).

Are you happy now, herman??

Going into Final with a 65,714 lead, he bet 60,013 in final to break his own record by 20k

He now owns the top 4 single game scores ever.

I've been watching my whole life and have never seen anything like this, he's close to double Ken Jennings total through 10 games.

I feel for his competion, these people are probably fulfilling a life time dream to appear on the show and are steamrolled by this guy. He had 71,114 going into final today vs. 5,000 and 5,400.

I mean, there's probably only person who knows more than him in the whole world... Nik the Trik!

Ran out of birthdates to play with, eh?

Ya he is damn good but its his wagering that is insane, doubling down on the early DD he hits.  Leads to huge leads before Double Jeopardy, then its basically a cakewalk for him. Then he can decide what huge number to play in final, no one can catch him.

For those of you my age, do you remember the first time you saw Alex Trebeck?  He did a Jeopardy style show back in the 60's early 70's call Reach for the Top and Alex hosted the Toronto version for years.  Basically two high school teams of 4 contestants each, playing very Jeopardy like questions.

My prayers go out to Alex in his healing. He has been part of my life forever.

He also pretty much never gets an answer wrong, he's first to buzz in ~40 times a game (out of 60 questions) and gets around 2 answers wrong. Even without the daily double bets, he's completely dominating.

I was on my high school Reach for the Top team

It's almost like it's a good idea to generate a lot of opportunities so that even when you make a mistake it doesn't knock you out.

Great googly moogly, they're turning The Boys into a TV Show:

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/review/boys-review-1205773

I appreciate that anything even remotely connected to Superheroes is probably a hot property in Hollywood these days but I can't imagine that they'll be able to put in half of the stuff that the book did. I like to think that I've got a pretty big tolerance for these sorts of things but The Boys, quite frankly, was pretty grotesque.
