Friggin' Jeter.

I'm not a big baseball fan, but as a sports fan that was beautiful.

Yeah, I'm not a Yankees fan or a fan of him in particular but, well, what can you say? That was pretty great.

When I need to remind myself of a way to dislike him I always look at the Gold Gloves he won for being "good" defensively.  My personal favourite being 2005 when he was a -1.9 dWAR player.

Pretty great way for him to end his career in New York.  Maybe he should sit out the rest of the season now because that's pretty much storybook material.

Eh, as egregious as that is that's not his fault. Managers and coaches vote on the Gold Gloves.

This is from Mike Schur, or Ken Tremendous, who used to run the Fire Joe Morgan blog

The A's lost to KC in 12 innings in the AL Wildcard matchup.  All those trades and they still can't win.  Kansas City making the playoffs means the Jays are the only team in the Majors who haven't made the playoffs in the last 20 years.

Giving them the longest active playoff drought in North American major league sports.

It's amazing how Toronto teams are adept at setting marks for futility.

I am continually amazed just how bad the Tigers' bullpen actually is. They have given up, what, 11 runs in the firt two games against Baltimore now? And all in the 8th inning? Not sure how the GM can continue to be employed by seemingly ignoring their biggest problem.

Ah,  imperfection at it's finest.  :)   Don't expect the Orioles to lose against the
Tigers.  Detroit's flaw will become Baltimore's gain.  So far, that's what it's looking like.

Joe Maddon opts out with the Rays. I imagine he's LA bound.

Word is the Cubs are the favourites to land him, actually.
