And now they trail by two.

Suppose having a Canadian team in the playoffs isn't good for American ratings.

Yup. I guarantee you if it were the other way around, that's a clear out.

Man, I'm drawing a blank here, but can someone please tell me who the guy is with tears in his eyes at the 4:47 mark...?

I wish I could quit this video.

Main Leafs Hockey Talk / Leafs TV

I'm not sure if this is the right section for this but I just thought I'd mention to anyone here who's with Rogers and had Leafs TV removed from their VIP package or whatever, you can get it back for free for one year.

You just need to call in and ask for it. Apparently, it wasn't Rogers who removed it, it was Leafs TV. I guess they thought that with the hiring of Babcock, people would actually want to pay for their crappy channel all of a sudden.

Anyway, I just thought I'd bring it up for anyone who might be interested.

Main Leafs Hockey Talk / Re: Mats Sundin to join Legend's Row
« on: September 13, 2015, 02:15:22 AM »
Even though I agree with Mats Sundin getting a spot on legend's row, I don't get the whole, "Gilmour and Clark not worthy of the honour."

Doug Gilmour still holds the record for most points in a season by any Leaf ever and is the last one to ever win hardware for the team with the Selke trophy. How does that not fit into the definition of 'legend'?.............Mats never did that in all the extended time he was here.

I remember when Wendel Clark was drafted. My brother still has the newspaper clipping of the day. To say that what he brought to a fan base that had absolutely ZERO to cheer about for years, is now suddenly worth less than what Mats did is quite frankly..........just stupid.

I'm not bringing this up to knock Mats Sundin as I think he deserves what was given to him but don't tell me or anyone who's actually watched this team a little longer than some of you, that he was more deserving than others, or that those others aren't deserving, because of your criteria.

Your criteria, to say the least, is way off and I'm sure Mats himself would agree with that.

LOL...........That is one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

Main Leafs Hockey Talk / Re: Kessel traded to Penguins
« on: July 12, 2015, 12:53:15 AM »
What I find hilarious about this trade is how the Leafs were suddenly the team "under pressure" to make a move.

Pittsburgh fired their gm and coach last year when they didn't make a dent in the playoffs. Suddenly they're cool as a cucumber when they did the same thing this year? They were desperate for a Phil Kessel type.

Was there a better winger available at the time of the agent or otherwise?

People in Pittsburgh are amazed at how little they had to give up and people here and trying to shine a turd.

Let's see............the Pittsburgh Penguins need to win right now because their window on that is closing, and losing early in the playoffs, with the best player in hockey every year, probably shouldn't happen more. Something needs to change and it can't be coach and gm this time.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have no need to win for the next 3 years at least...................................................MUST TRADE KESSEL IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!!!!!!! CANNOT GO PAST JULY 1st!!

If Kessel were a cancer to any team, why in all living hell would Jim Rutherford want him............even with the small percentage of cap off, for 7 more years? Does that sound like something you would take a chance on yourself?

We got reamed on this deal. The longer Kessel was here, the more valuable he became just by his contract getting shorter.

The city of Pittsburgh is loving hockey again. I doubt a smaller move would have did that for them and Rutherford and his upper echelon, know it too.

Can't wait to see how our third liner does though.

The Leafs got owned on this trade. Might as well have asked Jim Rutherford if he wanted breakfast in bed for 1 or 8 years.

I'm sure Jim was aware of how well Kessel could potentially play with better players surrounding him. He would have just had to watch the Olympics from just over one year ago.

I'm thinking the Leafs better get a real GM in place before they trade anyone else.

I think Lindros should call McDavid on behalf of the Maple Leafs to let him know exactly what it takes to make it in the NHL.

Edmonton - 4 1st overall picks in 6 years.  No pick worse than 7th.  Unreal.

And Leafs haven't since 1985.

Yeah, and Edmonton won the cup in '85 with Gretzky, Messier and a few other no names. Plus a few more after. I don't know of a team that's had a bigger horseshoe up its ass.

I'm beyond pissed off.

Main Leafs Hockey Talk / Re: Lack of Leadership
« on: November 24, 2014, 05:11:21 AM »
Whether anyone likes it or not, the Toronto Maple Leafs really shouldn't be the first team to stop saluting their fans. The Leafs have no idea how lucky they are to have any fans left to spend as much as they do.

Language Warning.

#Heart #Leadership #Captain #Kingstonboy

What's weird is Phaneuf has been a Leaf for almost as long as Gilmour now.

Pretty much the same team + same coach = Stanley Cup!!

The only thing I can see wrong with that is the coach not being extended long enough.

The problem with this year's team is they don't even give you the illusion of hope. Pathetic from day one.

I think everyone involved should get a raise or have another guy hired that means nothing at all. GO LEAFS GO!!!!!

I was going to make a long reply about goons and whatever but I'm too bored with this team to give a crap about a two day argument.

No matter what's said here, it's going to be another year of pulling within a goal to tie it at the last minute and almost making the playoffs. I'm too excited about that to respond more. Let me catch my breath before October.

Carry on and God Bless.

Where do you guys draw the line with that though? Do you not dress anyone tough and pretend like the other team isn't going to nail your star player? Then when they do, what are you supposed to do?..................Score more or something when they keep smashing you around the ice?

Some of you guys make it sound like you'd be happy to watch the NFL if it were two hand touch and a guy yelling out 5 steamboats before he went to touch the quarterback with both hands.

You'd really be able to see the true NFL talent that way but I don't know if it's all that entertaining.

Non-Hockey Chatter / Re: Depression and Anxiety
« on: June 22, 2014, 03:33:40 AM »
Severe depression is so much fun, 10 years and counting. Don't think it's been as bad as it is now for a very long time. It's also very comforting when your doctor tells you that if no pills have helped you so far, it's not likely that any other will either. And recently I got to try "the most efficient" medicine, but with more side-effects, results? More thoughts about suicide, so great. The last possible solution is ECT. It's so frustrating, I know that I can't keep on living like this for long, and at the same time I don't know if it's possible to get any better. So I just don't know what to do, I don't want to suffer for the rest of my life.

Hi Stebro, I don't know you personally either but if you're at the end of a rope, try a book called "You Are The Placebo" by Dr. Joe Dispenza.

The gist of it is pretty much about how by the age of 35, our brains have pretty much seen all they're going to get so we've "hardwired" our thoughts to react to anything the same way, over and over again. Wake up, feel the same, do the same things that those thoughts told you to do, feel the same thing after they're done, go to bed and repeat.

The book shows you exactly why you feel the way you do with science. It isn't a fluffy "feel good" Wednesday and kill yourself on Thursday kind of thing. It actually will make you think about how you think.

I guarantee that you will find hope in that book.

Either way, I hope you're in a better place now than when you wrote your post and you can PM me any time too if you want to just shoot the you know what.

All the best.
