I hope he gets with the program and does a deal that helps the team, like Tavares did.  I can see Mitch and Austin doing it.  Nylander worries me as I think him and his agent think he has earned more then he has. Trust me he had better be on Board. As I want a cup and I hope greedy players don't stop it from happining.

Well then they should not be called prospects. Imo if you are on the Leafs you are not a prospect, you are one of the team.

Are prospects not players in our system, but not yet on the team?. If so them why are players on the Leafs on this list.

All three won't get as much as most are guessing. I think because its there first long term contract, we will get all three for much less then the common guess going around.  The next contract like the one JT  just signed will be the one that put our payroll to the test.  Mathews will not get JT money yet, and the other two will be around the same as Marleau, or Kadri.

I think we get Mathews cheaper then everyone thinks.  As Traveres is on his main contract aka the big one. but Mathews is only on his first pay day. the big big bucks will come on his next one, and the same for the other two.  I think everyone is over blowing the amount they should get.

Yawn, let's get this season started already!

The Leafs sign any veteran D on a short term contract yet? Sbisa? Hamhuis? Emelin?

Nope, and that's because we will promote from within, and rightly so, as we have some very serious defensive talent almost ready.

Ozighanov, Holl ,Borgman and  Rosen will all be in the mix, but who wins out.... I wouldn't even try to guess that, but I do have a real gut feeling about two new faces making the jump.

I think our Defense will be fine, I see two of our prospects making the defense this season. I also think the leafs will turn out four Defense between this and next year from the Marlies.  A trade to get Defense IMHO is backwards thinking, as the issue will be unloading from our current group.

Oh Also Ozighanov could be an intresting add to the mix.

I don't subscribe to The Athletic, but is Wheeler right a lot?

I can't speak to this particular writer but it's pretty rare to write an evaluation of prospects where any one outcome for those players makes the writer "right" or not. It's usually "he may do this" or "if he can develop X, he'll be Y".

Yeah, he doesn't really make pronouncements about what players will be. But I think, since he's a younger guy who's attracted to speed, skill, agility, etc., he's pretty attentive to the tools they have and what they might be if they develop. And, as they age and approach the point of graduating, he's been pretty good about predicting what they'll do in the NHL. He was, at the beginning of last season, pretty confident that Dermott, Johnsson, and Kapanen would be useful contributors, and they were.

So, if he says the Marlies don't have under-23 players ready for the Leafs, I believe it.

Dermott, Johnsson, and Kapanen would be useful contributors.   Anyone could see them three coming a mile away, so IMO that don't say much.

I follow our system, and I see lots of up and comers.

I hope Tavares at least stopped on his way off the ice and gave that kid an autograph.

Lmao...hahahahahaahahahahah... That had me on the floor laughing. Good one.

I knew when Lou joined the NYI the chances of JT coming went down, but now that Trotts has been hired, the chances are now gone IMO.  I guess we look elsewhere for our much needed center help.

Now that Lou is on the island, I don't see us getting Tavares.  It  was a dream I knew as a Leaf fan would fall apart somehow, and it did.  Oh well I guess the center issue will go another route.  Bummer though... Them three would have been awesome.
