Main Leafs Hockey Talk / Re: Mike Babcock is the Leafs new Coach!

Ok i wish Babcock all the luck in the world.

Wilson was brought in with the same Mantra as was Carlyle.
Hard nosed no nonsense disciplined coach.
That didn't spell success either.
If upper mgmt get's him the horses he needs to turn this mess around then he will have success.
I wish him the best and will start watching games a bit more than i have been.

My take on this is simply there's a lot of money here.
Why not.

The tools to do the job (Players) are not yet assembled if they ever do get to that part.
The coach can't score, and defend the players are responsible for that part.
Tucker's salary comes off the books this year.
1 Million.
The Leafs threw to much money around you can see that in the team and what their paying their top players.

2 years i give em.
Carlyle filled this, and then Wilson before him and where are they now?

I'm not happy with the level of compete in the NHL these days it appears there are only a few teams i would sit down and watch an entire game.
To say the NHL has deteriorated under Bettman is an understatement. I don't watch the games anymore.
I have probably watched 1/2 a Leafs game and turned it off. They play the "I don't want the hot potato game" with the puck.
Bunch of wimps.

The shootout is a fail to me. There are to many teams and not enough positions with quality players. Defence/Forward.
Plus this scrum hockey is sad. It's like watching rugby with skates on.
Where did all the creativity go?
Each year the G.M's get together and play with a game which they have no business interfering with.
The more they mess with it the less i'm gonna watch. 3 on 3 gimme a break.

Makes no sense at all. Bolland gone injury prone.
This guys best year was 2010!

It's 4 years gone.
Not a good pick-up at all.
You will rarely see this guy play.

I was thinking of installing a dashcam. Paranoid, or good idea? I also remember the guy on the 427 that was backed into as an insurance scam that had one.

Anyone running one or have an opinion either way?

I have a couple of co-workers who have em. I think their overkill. They watch the show on a stick on their computer when they park the car. It's really boring TV.
I think it depends on where you live. If you drive a lot, or live and park in a high traffic area fine.
I've always had my car doors dinged when i went to a shopping mall. Still. But the car is old, and it's no Lexus.
It's video proof of vandalism.

I've been disappointed with the Leafs since last playoff series when my converter almost went through my tv.
That has carried over into this season as well.
And i must say i have not watched as many games.
At any rate i have seen this show before.
Like all the articles i have read since the collapse.
They keep changing the chairs on the Titanic, but you know next year it's gonna hit the iceberg again.
Hope is in short commodity.
The players gave up. Simple.
Some AHL Marlies showed up, but that's because they wanna shot at the big's.
The Leafs continue to string their fans along. Showing flashes of excellent potential only to revert back to mediocrity time and again.

I don't blame the coach. The players i blame.
Not picking a player in particular there were to many on this team whom took nights off.
To many nights.
I always thought you do your job to the best of your ability.
I did not see much pride on this team.Individual efforts.
The ones whom show up and the others who just look like they care.

Till next year. SS Titanic sails again.

Well there are enough passengers on the Leafs.
Not enough rowers.

Phaneuf is just a stupid hockey player in my mind.
Tough is not in his DNA.
He'll log some minutes, but will not engage enough that you could say we have a star defense man.
Like Kulemin he's there, but so what. They make no difference in how the game will turn out when on the ice.

Ya Clarkson i read somewhere if it wasn't for the puck bouncing off some part of his body he would have zero goals.
I now realize how true that is.

Why on earth did they think he was that good, and offer him that much dough?

Just got back from Shoeless joe's watching on the big screen.
It's the lack of finishing that is killing em again.
No one wants to get dirty, and make the needed effort.
It's mostly perimeter passing and shooting.

Aww well another lost season.
Seen this so many years and it's getting beyond annoying.

This game will be great the Leafs can get a few rounds of Golf in, and go flop around on the ice a bit.
Scout out some courses.
No pressure at all.
Tampa does not need this, and the Leafs do, but after watching them play WPG i thought they were looking ahead to Tampa/golfing.

2-8-0 in the last 10.

It's time for a change in direction in Vancouver. But it's to little to late. Blown season.
They need more grit, and less politics.
The Coaching with Torts will never work either.
See more changes on the horizon.

Has to be Kulemin. And honorable mention goes to Reimer.
Then the Capt has to answer for a lot.

Hockey is not what it used to be.
I hate the fact the NHL puts 4 Zebra's out there.
Their always in the way, and they still miss calls.
It's unbalanced, and stupid.

Get the hell off the ice alrady.
The Leafs are in a slump.
It happens.

What is it Jan - The swoon has already started.
I watched the Islander game, and yes the Leafs were skating, but they were running around like squirrels looking for a nut.
Then i watched the philly/Mtl game. Seemed a big contrast in set plays, and good defense.
What a difference.
This team lacks direction, and it starts in the locker room.
Don't blame Caryle. Had a great off season loaded with new acquisition's where did it go wrong?

It's the usual Leafs stupid mid season slump.
Same as last year and the year before that.
What's different?
