General NHL News & Views / Re: Series Thread: Anaheim vs Calgary

It's nice to see Carlyle have some success. I think he took way too much heat for the failings of the leafs. Ducks with a great season, home ice, and a 2-0 series lead.

I don't wish him ill will or anything but he had success prior to coaching the leafs. And he was a pretty frustrating coach when he was with the leafs.

And I'm sure he'd say the leafs were a pretty frustrating team to coach.

Yeah, you could pretty much tell by his expression when it happened that that was a season-ender. Here's hoping he gets back to 100% in the offseason.

I know he was certainly a favourite whipping boy around here for much of the season, but he really played well and was a big asset over the last couple months in particular. It'll be really interesting to see how free agency treats him.

I see that Martin had 2 assists. So, yeah, 4th line!

He scored that world junior gold medal winning goal in OT.  The announcers said that this was probably the biggest goal in his career.  I think the gold medal goal has to be up there.

Given the context of that goal(in Finland, vs. Russia) sure but there's no actual competition.

Oh there's a competition, and that World Junior goal is winning the swim suit portion.

Bad analogy. The swimsuit portion is the best part.

It's been awhile since I've watched a game and needed a gatorade as a spectator.

After watching the Leafs for a little over 40 years I am happy the Leafs have a rookie the caliber of Kapanen.

Heh, well, Matthews, Nylander and Marner aren't bad either.

Well, 2 OTs, both won by the 4th line.

Wooooohooooo! Terrible acquisition Boyle with a beautiful pass!!!!

Alright alright I take that back.  Although in my defense, I never said terrible.

Haha no worries.

Seems that maybe Carlyle has the toaster working in Anaheim.

We've got 2-3 players with exceptional speed. I'd like to see players like Kapenen/Marner get the puck at speed in the neutral zone and try to get around the D flatfooted and cut into the crease. It sometimes looks like we overpass a bit and nullify that speed advantage.

Komorov with another great shift.
