It's possible, but I wonder if the plan isn't to say trade down from the OTT 2nd next year to a lower 2nd and a 3rd at the draft to re-coup at least one of those picks (maybe both).

That strikes me as something that'd be tough to plan for without knowing where the pick will end up. If Ottawa's pick is in the 45-50 range then you probably can't pick up an extra third for trading down.

Fair enough.

I still think the best course of action might be to wait and see how this years deadline/draft and next years deadline go before giving back the picks. It also might be best for the re-build to have those guys/picks in the system that one year earlier for developments sake and the future core's "window". That's just a gut feeling though.

Don't forget those two wonderful 3rd round picks the Leafs have to give up for Lou and Babcock.  They have to give up two 3rds in 2016/2017/2018.

Yeah, that'll be interesting. I wonder if they pick up another third somehow between now and the deadline if they don't just get both picks out of the way by giving Jersey back their 3rd and giving Detroit whichever one they get.

This was the Penguins defence in their last game (due to a Letang injury):

Warsofsky-Maatta
Lovejoy-Dumoulin
Scuderi-Cole

I mean there seem to be some legitimate complaints made again Johnson, but that's terrible. They let Martin, Orpik, and Ehrhoff all walk without replacing them and then traded an actual good defenceman in Simon Despres for a bottom pairing guy in Ben Lovejoy.

Is there a reason Pouliot hasn't gotten a call up yet? I know that apparently there was real heat between Rutherford and Johnston with regards to playing Sprong but Pouliot's 21 and has 40 points in 53 career AHL games.

Also...Scott Harrington for Sprong? Who says no?

My guess is it'd take more than that to get it done. How about Harrington and Polak for Sprong?

Edit: Also (FWIW) from what I've read, Pouliot's game isn't ready defensively atm.

Anyone with a good stream?

6
And Kadri still can't score. Gold.

I have no idea what the rule is, but the part of Reimer that was contacted was not in the blue paint. His knees were but his head wasn't. I can see why they'd call it off but if the rule is "in the blue paint" then that should've counted.

8
It's official: Kadri will never score again.

9
Remier lays an egg, Lupul gets injured, everything is right in the Universe again.

I don't get SN 360. Anyone have a stream?

Awful strike zone, but going 0-for with runners in scoring position is what cost the Jays the game - and the series, really. Gotta be better than that.

0-12 with RISP, 8 LOB.

You don't win with numbers like that in an elimination game. Outside of Bautista this was a big fail. Umps didn't help at the end, but weren't the difference makers IMO.

Now the home run? We'll never know, but it conclusively was "fan interference" whatever that's supposed to mean (the guy interfered with the ball while still in the play "area").

12
Well it's not like they haven't had their chances.....

13
Pretty close to game over now. Mistake by Bautista IMO.

14
Can't pitch or field tonight apparently.

This game is over. I hate being that guy but this is just hard to watch

I concur.
