There was literally a report yesterday that said that contract talks here had halted haha.
Anyway, this seems like a pretty fair contract for Gallagher. He's a very good player. I guess the worry is how his body will hold up but probably not a big enough risk to let him walk as a UFA next year.

Yeah the talks broke off because they reached a deal
After the meltdown in talks yesterday morning, Gallagher’s camp and Habs circled back to each other last night and got back on track and get working at it today. Both sides admit there was a misunderstanding which agent Gerry Johansson and GM Marc Bergevin cleared up last night.

Is this a realistic comparable for what Hyman is going to be looking for?
Since 2017-18, at 5v5, Brendan Gallagher is:

5th in goals. Behind only Matthews, McDavid, Kucherov and Ovechkin
1st in shots.
1st in individual high-danger shots.
1st in rush attempts
1st in rebounds created.
1st in CF% among forwards.
1st in xGF% among forwards

Wow. Unexpected stats. Whenever I watched him play, he seemed like he was always hobbled by an injury.

He'd be a legit superstar if he was just able to produce on the powerplay. Like the tweet says, 5th in 5-on-5 goals over the past 3 years but T-106th in powerplay goals.
That said, if Hyman scores at the same clip he did last year who the heck knows what he'll be looking for financially.

Play him at 3RW this season to tank his stats.

I was thinking it would be worthwhile to experiment with Hyman as a shutdown 3C
