Anyone think they could bring him back? I do....
-
No.
-
Elaborate, please.
I don't think he fits the type of player that can succeed in today's NHL.
-
They could, but they won't.
-
We have some bottom pairing dmen with potential, let's stick with them instead of wasting space on Schenn.
-
he skates in quick sand. a big no for me

If Babcock thinks he can coach him up then maybe.

Damn, if he thinks so it definitely won't happen. I guess I just feel sorry for him. Had he been allowed to develop properly, I think he could have been one hell of a defensive dman. A poster lad for what rushing players can do.....
-
Maaaaaybe as a 6/7th defenseman.

Rushing him isn't what has hurt him. His awful skating has.

Giving credence to my long held belief that "rushing" players gets blamed for a lot but the reverse never is.

So 'not rushing' players doesnt get enough blame?

True. Rushing players is definitely over-used as a reason why players fail. There's almost always another explanation - and, even when there isn't, rushing a player is basically synonymous with a lack of maturity or physical strength.

And, in this specific case, I actually sort of think Schenn was pretty good as a rookie. I just don't think he had anywhere to go because he was so limited. As teams began to emphasize speed more and more he just found himself more and more out of place.

He got banged up pretty good his first year, his knee and his eye, and his eye has apparently never been the same. His knee interfered with training substantially going into year 2.
