Former Leafs: Ex-Files / Re: Zach Hyman
« on: Today at 11:39:57 AM »
The guy he played with last year is no slouch either...

I love me some AM34 but the gap between McDavid and the #2 player in the league, whoever that is, right now is probably bigger than the 1-2 gap in any other sport and by a fair margin.

Going to have to agree with Nik. Also AM is mostly a shooter. Doesn't get anywhere near the assists McDavid does and just not in the same class. I didn't like seeing Hyman go but I wouldn't pay him what he got. Good player, good work ethics but in my opinion stone hands who scores a lot of empty net goals which will probably decline because Oliers send McDavid out in those situations to boost stats.

Can someone explain how we’re 2 weeks into the season and the bruins have played only 1 game?

Well really we are only 8 days into the season but NHL scheduling I agree leaves you scratching your head.

What a dumb penalty by Muzzin. Had Leafs covering in their end and then a lazy hook.

Like to see a replay on the Nylander breakaway.

WTF are Holl and Muzzin on? Almost cost us with stupidity handling the puck in their own end. Chance for Holl to move it to Muzz with no-one on him but waits and then sends him a pass with Muzzin being pressured and then he gives it away.

Good lord how quiet is this crowd?

Worst crowd in the league hands down.

Campbell should of had that.

Oh fer (&$$&: sake

Not going to count but brutal play there by Campbell.

Thank god for the offside but this team has no finish, no killer instinct.

For the life of me I don't get why so much passing on a 5 on 3. Nylander with a great shot in prime position in the slot and pass it off to Tavares with the one timer. I don't get why they don't get it to the net more instead of looking for the perfect play. Wasted oppurtunity.

Yikes. That's a slash?

You wonder why people get turned off from watching this. Game has become a complete joke. Thanks Bettman.

NHL cap rules, winning again.

As much as I don't care for it either it is what it is but in the end the fault comes down to management.

According to,

Steven Stamkos cap-hit is:$7,500,000.
His estimated taxes are: $2,939,438, giving him a net income of: $4,560,562.

John Tavares cap-hit is $9,350,000
His estimated taxes are $4,974,500, giving him a net income of: $4,375,500.

This is the so-called 'parity' in the league.  Two star players making roughly the same amount, but a massively different cap-hit.
The Leafs management despite doing everything about as good as one can expect is coming up short, but only because they've been handicapped by the league.

Not sure if that is correct. Tavares signed a 7 year 77 million dollar contract. Cap hit 11 million.

My god

Let's hope for a better start, some players to start producing and please no injuries. On another note what's the latest with Matthews?
